The Maquiladora industry in Mexico as a whole employs over 482,000 people in
2,134 plants. The technical institutes throughout the State of Chihuahua are
graduating qualified professionals. The high schools and vocational institutions
in both El Paso and Juarez are providing students with the necessary skills and
education for today's maquiladora industry.
Co-Operative, predominantly Non-Union work force
Because of the Mexican labor laws that are extremely
detailed, the average laborer has little or no need for union involvement. The
Mexican Government has made provisions for the basic need of the work force in
areas such as housing, bonuses, vacations and holidays. All of these provisions
are loaded in the hourly cost paid to an employee.
Transportation availability
The Paso del Norte border region has a host of
options for your transportation needs. In trucking transportation there are over
145 motor freight common carriers serving the area. Many provide rapid, direct
on-line service to the major cities in the U.S. and Mexico.
Rail transportation is also readily available. The
National Railway of Mexico, Chihuahua Pacific, Santa Fe, Union Pacific, and
Missouri Pacific Railways all Service the El Paso / Mexico border region.
Juarez: largest city on the border
